Sandra Sieber

Biography:
Dr. Sieber is currently Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Information Systems. She joined IESE in 2000. Previously, she was associate professor at University Pompeu Fabra. From 2001 to 2004 she was appointed as the Academic Director of the PwC-IESE ebCenter. In 2003, she was a visiting scholar at the Sloan School of Management, MIT. Dr. Sieber’s areas of interest center on the interplay of strategic management and information systems, as well as on the role of new information and communication technologies (ICT) for organizational learning and innovation. She has studied problems of technology adoption and IS implementation in great depth. In her research, she highlights the need for an improved user knowledge about IS, especially if IS has a strategic role in the organization; she also claims that a more interdepartmental and collaborative approach of joint project accountability is needed.

Dr. Sieber is currently looking into ICT-enhanced innovation and how the adoption of new technologies may change work-practices in enterprises. Dr. Sieber is especially interested in those industries that are being transformed by recent technological advances, such as telecommunication, banking, media and entertainment.

Dr. Sieber has published scholarly and general articles in national and international journals, magazines and newspapers, and contributed to several books. Recently, McGraw Hill published her book “Los Sistemas de Información en la Empresa Actual: Perspectivas Estratégicas y Alternativas Tácticas”, co-authored by Josep Valor and Valentín Porta.

Josep Valor

Biography:

Dr. Josep Valor-Sabatier is Associate Dean for Faculty and Research and professor of Information Systems and Information Technology at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from MIT, and his Sc.D. in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics from the Harvard-Division of Health Sciences and Technology. His current research interests are on the impact of ITCs on competitiveness and industry structure.

Dr. Valor has been the coordinator of the Task Force of the Spanish Prime Minister to propose a nation-wide strategy on information technology and for the impulse of the information society. His research has been published in the International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Knowledge and Process Management.

Dr. Valor has recently published a book on the information-telecommunications hyper-industry, and one on Information Systems Management. He is on the editorial board of Information and Management. Dr. Valor served as the Conference Co-Chair for the 2002 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Barcelona.

Evgeny Kaganer

Biography:

Evgeny Kaganer is an assistant professor in the department of information systems. His research interests focus on institutional and social aspects of information technology (IT) diffusion and use within and beyond organizations. Evgeny has also done extensive research and consulting in the area of healthcare information systems. In particular, he was involved as a research associate in a three-year grant funded by the National Science Foundation looking into implementation and impact of hospital-wide clinical IT applications in healthcare provider organizations in the U.S.

His work has been published in the European Journal of Information Systems and Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings.

Gabriel Giordano

Gabriel GiordanoPhD in Management Information Systems, The Florida State University.

Biography:

Gabriel Giordano is an assistant professor in the Information Systems Department. His current research looks at virtual work teams, computer-based communication and deception, and differences between traditional and computer-mediated work settings. Gabriel has presented research on these topics at international conferences, and his work has been published in outlets such as the Journal of the AIS, the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, and Communications of the AIS. Before coming to IESE, Gabriel worked at Research International, where he was responsible for automating marketing research reporting processes, and at Westinghouse, where he worked in the Emergency Management Department at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.
